Mobile Inventory with HP Asset Manager

Rapid shifts in business combined with widely distributed corporate locations lead to increased costs and effort in capturing, tracking and managing the infrastructure. Many companies today use barcode labels or RFID transponders to mark their IT equipment and other assets. Here the important thing is not only to improve the quality of the data, but to reduce the manual effort involved when changes occur and inventories are made.

This is where you need a mobile scanning and handling system that supports fast and efficient operations. There is a standard asset tracking system from Clientfocus for HP Asset Manager (AM) that links to AM through a Connect-It integration.

The asset tracking system (ATS) for AM lets you use mobile readers and devices with barcode or RFID scanners to collect the on-hand or physical data and intelligently compare that with the existing target data stored in AM.

ATS Features
Asset Manager uses Connect-It to download the asset data to ATS Central.
ATS Central processes the data and files it in a unique SQL database.
Mobile ATS loads the mobile devices with the existing target data and allows this data

to be edited, to include adding of new assets, changing the location, type or user, and

uploading the actual on-hand data to ATS Central.
During the reconciliation between ATS Central and AM, the on-hand data is stored in an

interim table in Asset Manager to enable the selective transfer and modification of this on-

       hand information.

ATS lets you conduct audits, make inventory counts and track asset movements using mobile terminals and devices.
